Ahead of Myself ... (V&H Fair)

So, it's 3½ weeks (or thereabouts) until the Vintage & Handmade Fair at Chipping Sodbury (if you are one of the few who has not heard of this Fair then please click on the link on the sidebar), and I'm already setting aside pieces of fabric and other goodies. This isn't my normal way of working at all ... Normal is 5 days before a Fair wondering which boxes of stock to load in the car and which items to remove from Dairy House without leaving it devoid of stock. Those of you who have been to Dairy House will know that these days I couldn't physically get all the stock on display there into the car in one go, so there's little likelihood of anyone noticing that I have removed anything!!

I've bought some beautiful pieces of fabric recently (in addition to the Scheurer samples) and a number of them will be coming with me to the V&H Fair.

Just look at these chimney pots. Isn't this fabulous? It's only a small piece, being once part of a 1940s (I think) dress belonging to the mother of the person I bought it from.

I plan to take a few other bits and pieces - not just fabric and haberdashery. A doll's cot and wardrobe may end up in the car, along with the odd painting or mirror or lampshade ... or ... who knows! It wouldn't do for you to see everything now, would it!!

Anemones, anyone?

A week or so ago I majored on buttons, huge MOP buttons, smaller MOP buttons, a few Bimini glass buttons and some Bimini-style buttons. I've photographed them on this gorgeous blue/green shot silk which I've spent some time ironing this morning. There are 3 lengths of it totalling approximately 12 metres. Not sure whether it'll sell, but I'm enjoying looking at it!

These buttons would have looked good on this beautiful floral and striped fabric - see how the colours match! Shame the camera battery's flat! There are 4 lengths of this for sale.

The colours of this ballerina fabric are quite subtle, but the background is actually eau-de-nil rather than the grey shade that shows on my screen. This is another smallish piece from the same source as the chimney pots.

More recent purchases include 2 Victorian scrap albums and 40+ pages from another which had finally fallen apart. I think the photos will have to be part of my next post as I need to get on and begin the list of things to do today which I haven't even started yet. Still, what's a Bank Holiday for if not for displacing ...
Update:
Having crossed one thing off my 'to do' list here's a couple more photos ... Buttons? Did I say buttons? Oh yes ... thousands of them ... large and small ...

Oooooh buttons! I absolutely love the square carved ones. I so wish I could make this year's fair but now as well as it being my daughter's birthday we're also going on holiday that day! Some beautiful fabrics there, the chimney one really makes me think of Mary Poppins.

Sue, I am amazed at the chimney pot fabric! What a fantastic subject for a dress, if I saw a chimney pot dress like that in the shops today, I would have to have it, so unusual! xx
