Day 1 of "The Bathroom Transformation"
This ...

is everywhere !

Black dust. All over the house, clinging to the walls, in fact clinging to every vertical as well as horizontal surface. The carpets lost their swirls, the anaglypta took on a shadow effect and I daren't show you the cobwebs which had been lurking unnoticed! And all because of ...
The dividing wall between the bathroom and the loo was built of concrete block and we are now breathing black air. Oh joy ... Don't you just love the orange walls we found when we removed the old tiles? All good fun ... if you don't weaken ... which I won't!!! (The builder has gone home for a shower, sensible man!) The yellow cloth is lying on top of the tiles I think I might like in the new bathroom, although I'm not yet convinced, and the sidelong glances I'm getting from Paul make me wonder whether I've lost the plot. But I don't think I have ... it will all tie in beautifully ... eventually!!
I now can't wait for it to be finished of course, and then let the decorating commence ... the whole house in one fell swoop. It could be a way of losing that weight I'd hoped to shed before the wedding!
OK, I've had my five minutes R&R. Time to put my Mrs Mop outfit on again. I feel better having offloaded this onto you! Thank you, fellow bloggers!

Hi Sue, It's always darkest before dawn - or in your case 'dustier before a complete home transformation!!!' You know it will all look wonderful when finished - and what is it with these men and their sidelong looks? They must practice them in front of the mirror, as Mike is an expert at them too! Can't wait to see the 'after' photos! Clare x

I'm sure the black dust will be worth it once the project is finished. I'll look forward to seeing the end result.

Thanks for visiting my blog and leaving a comment.

Thank you for your nice comment in my blog. And I can see that you are in the middle of bathroom renovation. Great fun! At least it will be once it is finished. And you will soon forget what you had to go throug (voice of experience...)

Oh dear. One day we are going to have to take the tiles off our bathroom walls.... You are very brave, don't weaken, I hope its all over soon!

That black dust is a bit scary but the end result will be wonderful. We are redoing our bathrooms in preparation for moving. Not tearing down walls but oh my the mess and inconvenience. The result will be wonderful when we make more on the house for all of our effort.
Hang in there.

Thanks ladies, by the time we'd finished clearing up and had the windows open for a couple of hours (brrr!!) it was much better. And 6.00pm saw me with G&T in one hand and a paintbrush in the other, testing a colour in every room in the house. When I got to the kitchen I kept going and painted most of it. It's amazing how much you can achieve when you're 'displacing' (my word for achieving unintentionally when other more important things need doing). I haven't looked at my handiwork yet this morning, but hopefully it will be OK!!

It will all be worth it in the end. Go with your instincts and ignore those sideways glances!! I always do!
